I am a lecturer in the International Pathway College, where I am module lead for the International Year 1 course, Financial Accounting. I also teach Financial Management and module lead the pre-master's course Introduction to Management.
I have undertaken research into teaching, learning and assessment, with a particular focus on international students. I have published chapters and journal articles exploring the use of discussion boards, assessment through group work, peer feedback, decentering language in educational research, the dominance of western academic writing conventions, and motivating students in online learning environments. My doctoral thesis evaluated the use of visual metaphors to communicate the meaning of abstract concepts. I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a Certified Management and Business Educator, a Certified Member of The Association for Learning Technology, and a holder of the Vice Chancellor's Teaching Award.
I am an external examiner for Business and Economics. I have over 30 years of teaching experience, and prior to working at the university, I spent most of my career teaching at a sixth-form college.
