I am an Associate Lecturer in Language and Study Skills at the International Pathway College. I serve as Module Leader for the Pre-Sessional courses, with responsibility for curriculum design, assessment, and course coordination across on-campus and online provision.
I teach academic language and study skills across Foundation, International Year One, and Pre-Masters programmes, supporting international students in developing the linguistic, academic, and intercultural competencies required for successful progression to degree study.
Alongside my teaching responsibilities, I am actively engaged in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion initiatives within the University. As the department’s EDI Champion, I contribute to inclusive practice and development. I am also a Dignity Contact for the University, providing confidential guidance and signposting support where appropriate. In addition, I contribute to University support networks for racially minoritised and international communities, offering guidance and advocacy to help foster an inclusive academic environment.
My professional and scholarly interests centre on the sociocultural aspects of English language use and learning. I am particularly interested in how cultural context, identity, and power relations shape language practices and the development of World Englishes. My work is informed by a strong background in linguistics and intercultural perspectives on education.
Drawing on this background, I am especially interested in how students navigate academic conventions across cultures and how institutions can better support diverse linguistic backgrounds within higher education.
I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). I hold a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics: TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and a BA (Hons) in English Language and Linguistics. I also hold a TEFLQ qualification and have taught in both UK and international contexts across higher education and language school settings.
I have previously contributed as a guest lecturer within Erasmus exchange programmes, reflecting my commitment to international collaboration and intercultural academic exchange.
