Research Forum

Research Forum brings together Chairs of Departmental Research Committees (DRCs) from across all departments in order to:

  • Communicate the University's research priorities to academic departments;
  • Provide a unified mechanism for disseminating developments in research policy and procedure and other research-related matters across all departments, with a particular focus on the implications for the academic community;
  • Disseminate and discuss developments in the external research environment, including helping to co-ordinate the response at University level;
  • Provide a mechanism whereby representatives of the academic community can feed into the development of research-related policy and initiatives, in particular where cross-Faculty discussion would be beneficial;
  • Facilitate academic-led discussion of research-related issues across all departments, including those raised by Faculty Research Groups and/or individual DRCs;
  • Share good practice in departmental research management across all DRCs.

Research Forum also provides annual training and induction for new Chairs of DRC.

Topics

Suggestions for topics or formats are welcomed, eg:

  • Is there something you need to know about that would be more appropriate for us to invite an external visitor?
  • Do you want to hear from other University service departments?
  • Would you prefer to meet in broad subject areas on occasion?

Please contact Clare Murgatroyd with suggestions.

If you are not receiving emails about Research Forum and you think you should, or if you've ended your term as Chair of the DRC, please let us know.
