Our 60-second interview with Jenny:

Could you please tell us what work you do in the field of mental health?

My recent work has been about using narrative in promoting anti-racism with mental health social workers.

What do you find most rewarding and inspiring in this work?

The enthusiasm with which social workers have grasped onto this new way of doing anti-racism training and have carried on the work themselves.

What is the most challenging or complicated aspect of this work?

Participants in our project identified a lot of institutional change they would like to see. This is, of course, much more difficult than individual change.

What impact do you hope your work is having - or can potentially have?

We know that social workers who took part increased their knowledge and made small changes in their practice. We hope that as we learn more about how the intervention could work these changes could benefit the people mental health professionals work with.

Could you share with us one piece of advice that you follow for your own mental health?

There is nothing better than a day walking along the coast. Ditch the work and make time for it!
