Student Safety, Welfare and Conduct

The University of York is committed to providing a safe, inclusive and supportive environment and takes its duty of care towards our students very seriously.

We have robust measures in place to promote and safeguard the safety and welfare of students on our Pre-University Summer School and our friendly team of staff are trained and always available to ensure that any issues or concerns are responded to promptly and appropriately.

Students first point of contact throughout the programme are our fantastic Course and Resident Assistants. Course and Resident Assistants are University of York students who provide supervision, support and assistance throughout the timetabled activities, social programme, free time and in accommodation. The team offer a real insight into student life at York and are often a highlight of the programme for participants.

Senior staff are on call 24/7 to respond to any serious issues. All staff are DBS checked and trained in safeguarding.

Due to the intensive nature of the programme in an adult environment, we expect all students to have the necessary maturity to participate in the summer school, and students are required to adhere to the Student Code of Conduct.

The following documents and policies will be sent to successful applicants when they are offered a place on the programme. We ask that students and their parents/guardians carefully read through them to ensure they understand the nature of the programme and its suitability for them.

Both students and parents/guardians will be required to accept these policies, along with the terms and conditions, in order to confirm their place on the programme:
