York Early Music Press (YEMP)

York Early Music Press was founded to disseminate high quality scholarly performing editions of music composed pre-1800.

More information

Its editors, both in-house and guest, are leading scholars in their fields. All the editions are computer set, and are freely available as downloadable PDFs.

The main guideline for the editorial board is to make the editions performer-friendly and available not only in various formats (eg with or without a blank line above a figured bass line for an individual's own realisation) but also with specialised information on matters of performance (pitch, forces, pronunciation, context).

We anticipate that future publications will also include articles and handbooks on specific aspects of performance practice.

York Early Music Press was launched in July 2001 in association with the Department of Music, University of York, the Heslington Foundation and York Early Music Foundation.
