Annabell Zander wins prestigious EAA Student Award 2019
The Award was received for the paper "Lost in transition: tracing cultural traditions at the Pleistocene-Holocene transition in northwestern Europe"
PhD Candidate, Annabell Zander, was awarded the EAA Student Award in front of nearly 2000 delegates at the Opening Ceremony of the European Association of Archaeologists' 25th Annual Meeting which was held in Bern, Switzerland, from 4-7 September 2019. The Award was received for Annabell's paper "Lost in transition: tracing cultural traditions at the Pleistocene-Holocene transition in northwestern Europe" which the Award Selection Committee commented: "represents a very good piece of research, which defines a European-scale question and marshals a large and diverse dataset to answer it".
The selection of the winning paper was based on academic merit and innovative ideas, with entry open to any MA or PhD student or archaeologist working on a dissertation who presented a paper at the conference. The award was accompanied by books and book vouchers worth more than €1800 and an offer to publish the paper in the European Journal of Archaeology.
