Advertise your vacancies

Let our students know about your opportunities.  We will support you to promote your organisation and opportunities to students by helping you advertise UK and overseas based:

  • Graduate positions, with an immediate or future start date
  • Part-time work suitable for vacations or alongside study
  • Volunteering opportunities
  • Internships and placements

We can also support you in developing bespoke internship opportunities for your organisation.

To post a vacancy, log in to the Careers Gateway. If you do not have an account, you will be prompted to create one.

By posting vacancies with us you:

  • agree to our Terms and Conditions
  • understand that The University of York takes reasonable steps to ensure that vacancies are advertised in accordance with current UK employment legislation. The University reserves the right not to publicise a vacancy which we deem at risk of breaching this legislation.

We will:

  • check your vacancy before it goes live. (Our Vacancies Service is staffed on a part-time basis, so please note that there may be a short delay in approving your vacancy.)
  • prioritise reviewing and approving opportunities that close within 2 weeks of their upload date.
  • contact you by email if we need to clarify details about your opportunity. If we do not receive a response from you after 5 working days the vacancy will be rejected.
  • alert you when the vacancy is about to expire so you can amend the closing date if necessary.

Student Internships

Engage the skills, enthusiasm and cutting edge thinking of the University's students and graduates.  We can work with you on a cost-effective internship project, which will provide a tangible outcome for both your company and the intern. You can also advertise an internship to University of York students and graduates through our free online vacancies service, click on Vacancies above for more information.

Some of our academic departments offer placement years as part of their courses. For full information about employing a placement student from one of these departments, visit the University's Placements web page. You may also be interested in working with Careers and Placements, as we now offer a With Placement Year module to enable the majority of students at York to have the option to take a placement year as part of their degree.

International talent

There are many benefits in recruiting international students and it's probably easier than you think to get someone with specific language skills, cultural awareness, overseas contacts and professional global experience to help your business grow.  Whether you are recruiting to internships, vacation work or graduate positions, we can help.

Employing international students - what you need to know

While studying, most international students automatically have permission to work for any employer - up to 20 hours per week during academic term time, full-time during vacations and in the four months immediately following the end of their course.

Employing international graduates - what you need to know

There are a number of visa options that will allow you to recruit an international student at the end of their course, for an initial period of three years, or for a shorter term of 12 months.

For more detailed information please see recruiting international talent.
