Annie Clarke joined the University of Sydney in 2003. She has previously been a Lecturer in Archaeology at the ANU, a Lecturer in Archaeology and Cultural Resource Management at Charles Sturt University and held post-doctoral Fellowships at the North Australian Research Unit, Darwin and the ANU. Annie's research interests include the archaeology of Arnhem Land, the archaeology of cross-cultural engagement and colonialism, rock art and mark-making practices, ethnographic collections and objects, community archaeology, narrative and archaeology and heritage.

This seminar will provide an account of the Groote Eylandt Repatriation and Archaeology project which took place pre-covid in 2018 and 2019. The project was the culmination of a 30 year community archaeology project in the Northern Territory of Australia.
