Research topic: Utilising the ‘Cultural Theory of Risk’, establish whether there is a dominant cultural bias within FinTech institutions. Use this research to assess whether cultural biases impact analysis of information technology risks (including Cyber) and decision-making.

I obtained a BA (Hons) in Philosophy and an MA in Marketing at the University of Leeds in 2005. Since then, I’ve been busy working across financial services companies in the UK and US, in a variety of communications, operations and risk management roles.
I am now Head of IT Risk Management at Aviva PLC, based in York. I lead a global team who conduct Risk and Control assurance across IT and Cyber disciplines, on behalf of the Group COO.  I am therefore completing my PhD part-time – you could say I enjoy a challenge!
I have a broad range of academic interests, and with the exception of football and scurrilous reality TV, find most things fascinating.
