Maastricht Lead: Valentina Mazzucato, Professor of Globalisation and Development, Director of the Globalisation, Transnationalism and Development Research Programme 

Research and teaching on the Global South is a pillar of the innovative York-Maastricht Partnership. As part of this initiative, IGDC was awarded funding to host an innovative series of workshops and encounters between scholars in both institutions and experts from leading institutions in the Global South. The theme is Development Transformations and the focus is on different dimensions of transformation required for the Sustainable Development Goals, and the commitment to leaving no one behind’ in particular to become an established part of the fabric of global development. 

The themes for the workshops are

  • States and Emerging Markets
  • Global Health and Inequalities
  • Environmental Transformations 
  • Transnational Migration

The findings from the workshops will be fed into the final policy colloquium to be held in Brussels.
