University of York Undergraduate Open Days: June 2019

We had great interest from a number of prospective students looking to know more about our brand-new interdisciplinary teaching programme, talking to Student Ambassadors, lecturers and members of the IGDC.

Ingrid Harvold Kvangraven, one of the upcoming lecturers on the BA, gave a lecture on ‘Studying Global Development at York’, providing a general overview of the programme.

IGDC Director, Jean Grugel, also gave a mini-lecture in the afternoon on ‘Global Development, Should Children Work? Children’s Rights and Children’s Work’ which received much participation and engagement from the audience. Many questions were asked by prospective students and their parents, such as ‘Should there be legislation introduced in developing countries to support children who both want to work and have an education past the age of 12 years?’.
