A new page with information for prospective postgraduate students in Chinese has been added to the departmental website of Economics at York.

"We very much value the contribution of our Chinese students"

The page entitled Why York Economics? provides information about the teaching and research excellence in the York Economics department, and guides the visitor to useful information about the application process, the student experience as well as our beautiful city.

Professor Jo Swaffield, the head of the Economics department, said: "We very much value the contribution of our Chinese students to the department and the student community in York.

"We are proud of the many York graduates who go on to successful careers making a difference in finance, industry, the public sector and academia across China and the wider world.

"With this new website, we extend our invitation to talented and ambitious young people in China to follow in their footsteps."

Dongna Zhang, a PhD student in the department and the author of the text of the new website said: "My PhD supervisor Professor Peter N. Smith who is also in charge of graduate admissions and I thought that putting all relevant information about Economics at York in one place in Chinese would make the departmental website more accessible and the application process easier for students from China. York is a fantastic place to live and study, and I would like many more high-achieving fellow graduates from China to share this experience."
