Programme of study
BSc Interactive Media
Tell us a bit about your background
I'm a second-year Interactive Media student coming from a small town in County Down, Northern Ireland (around half an hour outside of Belfast). I'm a first-generation university student and also the first in my family to have moved overseas for university and thus I understand the struggle of breaking the mold and traditional path within your family. I study Interactive Media as I wanted to find a way to combine coding with something creative.
Why did you want to get involved with the Student Expert Panel?
In my first year, I was part of the student project Learning Through Neurodivergence project, and a big focus of the project was digital accessibility. I am passionate about making positive impacts for current and future students at the university and want to explore issues that impact various students and find ways to improve them as every single student should be able to get the absolute most out of their degree and campus life. I am also one of the course representatives for my year group; thus joining the panel allows me to represent both students in my course and department and across the university as a whole.
What are you involved with at York, and what are you interested in outside of your studies?
I am one of the lead directors of the Creative Technologies Showcase for 2026! I am very excited about this as we get to showcase brilliant student work from the department and will be a fun event for all!
I also am part of the Christian Union in the university and am involved in their Events Week and Publicity teams and this gives me a chance to live out my faith by serving other students on campus. Outside of activities within the university, I also go to church and serve on the kids team there as I am an energetic person and love their enthusiasm.
