BSc in Molecular Cell Biology

Tell us a bit about your background

Before I came to university, I had a background in science and have worked in a lab preparing samples for analysis. This has been my motivation to study Molecular Cell biology and learn more about diseases such as cancer. I used to teach martial arts, and I am a black belt holder.

Why did you want to get involved with the Student Expert Panel?

I have a keen interest in debating current topics that affects the student life cycle and I am passionate about helping students have the best experience in university.

What are you involved with at York, and what are you interested in outside of your studies?

I have a passion for both History and Politics. I also thoroughly enjoy helping improve the student facing support at the university, particularly for students that have a disability.

If you're a current panellist, what do you think has been your biggest impact so far on the Student Expert Panel?

The biggest impact was raising awareness of the lack of accessibility of the VLE site for students with disabilities. The future outcome is that the team should add this to their agenda when updating the site.
