Overseas Students' MA Bursaries

We are pleased to offer a number of Academic Excellence Bursaries for Overseas MA students and will automatically consider all our Overseas MA students for individual bursary awards of £1,000

  • Funding: £1,000
  • Academic year: 2024/25
  • Open to: International (including EU) students
  • Qualification level: Postgraduate taught

The awards recognise the academic excellence of exceptional applicants and will be awarded based on your academic record, with other performance indicators in your MA application also taken into consideration.

There is no application form required for this bursary. All eligible candidates will be considered automatically.

Eligibility

Open to International (including EU) students only.

In order to be eligible you must also have an offer for a place on one of the following courses:

To be eligible you must:

  • Be classed as an International (Overseas) student for the duration of your degree. This includes EU students. If you're unsure whether you're classed as a UK or International student for fee purposes, check your fee status.
  • Study on one of our English MA programmes
  • Start either part-time or full-time in September 2024.
  • Complete semester one of study.

Scholarships are awarded based only on the information included in your MA application and materials provided.

How we allocate

Scholarships are awarded based only on the information included in your MA application and materials provided.

Please note that the award is payable at the beginning of your second semester of study as an overseas (including EU) student studying an MA with the Department of English and Related Literature. 

Overseas bursaries will be paid at the beginning of semester two. This means that they are not paid automatically at the start of your MA, but rather after one semester's completed study.
