LGBTQ Social Society: provides a friendly, safe environment for all LGBTQ identifying students at York. Aims to run events twice weekly, ranging from movie nights to fancy dress bar crawls. List of upcoming and past events can be seen here.
LGBTQ Officers: Represent the views and needs of LGBTQ students and run campaigns to make York a more inclusive and diverse place for LGBTQ people.
Widening Participation
York access scheme: For those eligible, the scheme provides a contextual offer of up to two grades below the typical offer and an enhanced support package.
Working Class & Social Mobility Officer: Promotes equality, encourages participation and advances the welfare of such students through campaigning, educational conferences and social activities.
BAME Officer: campaigns within the Union, University and in wider society; promoting equality for BAME students.
Staff Race Equality Forum: This Forum provides opportunities for peer networking, support and development amongst Black, Asian and minority ethnic staff and the promotion of University values around inclusiveness.#
York Racial Equality Network: Support for people of all ethnicities living in York. Runs regular events and finds ways for minority ethnic voices to be heard by those who run local services.
