Will EMU break up?

Professor Richard Portes, President of the Centre for Economic Policy Research will give the University of York/CEPR lecture on 'Will EMU break up?' on Friday 20 March. The lecture is open to Ecofin journalists at the media pavilion at the Viking Hotel, York at 6.30 pm.

Earlier in the day, European economists will meet for a conference on EMU and the Asian financial crisis at the University of York.

The conference, organised jointly by the department of Economics at the University and the Centre for Economic Policy Research, takes place during the meeting of European Finance Ministers (Ecofin) in York that weekend.

Accredited reporters are welcome to attend the session on 'Will EMU break up?' at the Media Pavilion from 6.30 to 7.30 pm on Friday 20 March. Professor Portes and Professor Mike Wickens will be available for interview.

Professor Ron Cooke, Vice-Chancellor of the University of York, will open the session; it will be chaired by Professor Mike Wickens of the department of Economics, University of York.

Professor Richard Portes is Professor of Economics at the London Business School.
