ODI's Tom Hart joins IGDC as an Honorary Fellow

IGDC is delighted to welcome Tom Hart, Research Fellow at the Overseas Development Institute (ODI) as an Honorary Fellow. ODI has 60 years of experience of leading global debates about development, the global economy and sustainability and is uniquely experienced in getting evidence into global policy debates in the field of development, the Sustainable Development Goals and the global political economy.

ODI works closely with York researchers in IGDC and the Centre for Health on health and climate change, including in the large MRC-GCRF funded project, Thanzi la Onse (Health for All), where Tom co-leads the Politics, Governance and Ethics strand of this project together with Professor Jean Grugel and colleagues at the College of Medicine, Malawi.

Given Tom’s expertise in budgets and fiscal decentralisation, his appointment in IGDC opens exciting opportunities for greater cooperation in the areas of global health, political economy and finance in low- and middle-income countries, including in societies emerging from conflict. We also look forward to introducing Tom to colleagues across the IGDC and to our students on the BA in Global Development.
