IGDC Member Spotlight - Kevin Rosch

Kevin is a visiting researcher working within the Interdisciplinary Global Development Centre, under supervisor and Politics lecturer Dr Ingrid Harvold Kvangraven. He is currently completing his MA in Pluralist Economics (Political Economy) at the University of Siegen in Germany where he also works as an assistant for Assistant Professor Dr Svenja Flechtner. Prior to this, Kevin accomplished vocational training in the private sector after which he obtained a BSc from Cologne University of Applied Sciences in Business Studies.

Kevin’s research interests lie in the broad fields of Heterodox Development Economics and Critical Political Economy, specifically financialisation, peripheral financialisation, subordinate financialisation, heterodox theories of trade, dependency theory and imperialism. Kevin is currently working on his research project: ‘Subordinate Financialisation: Overviewing the Current Debate on Peripheral Financialisation in Heterodox Economics’ which focuses on financialisation in developing and emerging countries.

While financialisation in advanced capitalist economies is widely studied, the literature on this subject in the context of developing and emerging countries has recently increased. Since this issue is mainly discussed in heterodox economics, the perspectives of Marxist Political Economy, the Regulation School, and Post-Keynesian Economics are strongly represented. Kevin’s research project aims at summarising these different but yet related theoretical perspectives and their respective empirical findings.
