News | Posted on Wednesday 19 September 2018

The IGDC would like to formally welcome Dr. Adriana Castelli, who joined us in June 2018!

Adriana is a Senior Research Fellow in the Centre for Health Economics (CHE). She has an undergraduate degree in Economics from Università L. Bocconi in Milan, Italy and an MSc and PhD in Economics from the University of York.

Adriana’s research interests include Health Policy Reforms, Performance Measurement with a particular focus on the development of productivity measures of healthcare goods and services, Global Health, and analysis of geographical/spatial variation in health and social care.

Adriana’s recent work focuses on productivity within the English National Health Service. She is currently leading the Efficiency & Productivity policy research area in CHE which is looking at efficiency and productivity within the NHS, which is critical at a time of increasing health care demands and low increases in resources.

Adriana’s work has given her both national and international recognition as a leading expert. She has collaborated with both UK and international partners and is a member of many health economics groups, including the International Health Economics Association. She has published widely in health economics, health policy and social science journals and is CHE’s lead to the NHS Digital (the English health and social care data provider) for all data applications within CHE.

“I have always had an academic interest in Development Economics and now working as a Senior Research Fellow in Health Economics, my interest has naturally extended to issues related to Global Health, in particular around Health System Financing and Performance. I joined the IGDC with the aim of establishing new working relations and potential partnerships with academics from other disciplines recognising the increasing value added to research when it takes an interdisciplinary approach. I hope the IGDC will be conducive to innovative research in Global Health with a tangible and long-lasting impact on health care policy and people’s lives.”
