Biography and research
After finishing an MSc in Economics at the university of St Andrews, I worked at NatureScot assessing the wider benefits of Nature-based Solutions in Scotland, especially tailoring my research on ecological economics. In the past three years, I worked at Defra to develop better models capable of assessing the impact of UK’s consumption of agricultural commodities on global biodiversity and land-use change, both analysing current impacts and possible changes caused by policies or behavioural shifts.
This work inspired me to assess these impacts beyond a land-based view, and to explore how marine ecosystems are affected by consumption of fisheries products. The PhD covers the impacts on marine biodiversity of consumption through a supply-chain perspective, as well as the policies and political economies that drive and change these pressures.
