Two new spaces are now live on Fairhurst Floor 2: the Sensory Study Room and Sensory Retreat Room

The library regularly runs our LibInspo competition, where students submit ideas to improve the library and the winner gets a cash prize, as well as seeing their idea become a reality. Previous winners of LibInspo include The Living Room and the Family Study Room, and last year Samuel Harris won with the Sensory Rooms idea.

The rooms are located in rooms LFA/212 and LFA/213 on the 2nd floor of the Harry Fairhurst building, and the idea behind these spaces is allowing students and staff to moderate their sensory experience whilst in the library. They have blackout blinds and lighting you can control. The Sensory Study Room contains two height adjustable desks, one with a monitor and docking station and one with a PC. The Sensory Retreat Room includes comfortable seating and accessories such as fidget toys and mindful colouring books.

Any registered library user can use these rooms. You'll need to book the Sensory Study Room (LFA/212) using the study space bookings calendar or using the QR codes on the desks themselves; the Sensory Retreat Room doesn't require booking.

You can find more information about these spaces both on posters in the rooms, and on the Sensory Rooms webpage:
