"Own the room like a boss: Presentation skills workshop"

Wednesday 19 May 2021, 11.00PM

Speaker(s): Jamie Khoo

In this workshop, we'll dig deep into why it's important to share your research, and get you excited about speaking to others about your work. We'll cover key principles for creating effective presentations - whether online or in person - as well as how to develop confidence, find joy and enjoy easefulness when you present. Will be useful if you're just starting to present, if you're preparing for a conference, or simply want to brush up on your presentation skills.

Pre-session prep
If you're joining, please be prepared to discuss one aspect of your research that you could potentially present - for example, a past or potential conference paper, one main theme of your research or one key finding or argument. You won't be presenting during the session, but will be encouraged to talk about your ideas in small group discussions. (If you really cannot think of anything, you can work with your overall PhD thesis, but please think of one or two key points of your research that you can focus on)

Location: CWS students and staff should be able to see this event (with the Zoom link inside) on their Google Calendar timetable. If you're unable to see or access the session, please email Evangeline (boriana.alexandrova@york.ac.uk).
