Transit insurance

When property is in transit to and from the University, a transit insurance application form needs to be completed:

• Transit insurance application form

This is for goods belonging to the University or for which it is responsible. It is for:

• a maximum in any one sending in respect of postal sendings £1,000 (policy excess is £250)
• single and return journeys within the UK (policy excess is £500)
• single and return journeys abroad (policy excess is £2,500).

All transits totalling over £250,000 must be declared to insurance-enquiries@york.ac.uk at least two weeks prior to shipping/posting. The insurance policy does not include cover for property with a value of this level and special insurance, for which there may be a cost to the department, must be obtained.

The policy excludes transits to, from or within any of the listed excluded destinations. For any transits to these locations please refer to insurance-enquiries@york.ac.uk at least two weeks prior to transit.
