Home>Psycholinguistics@York

Psycholinguistics@York is a network of researchers across the University of York whose diverse interests converge on the cognitive dimensions of language ability and use.

Areas of research range from fine-grained details of phonetic perception and production and the investigation of the relationship between language development and sleep, to questions about how speakers use and construct meaning in real time, and the process of learning a first, second, or subsequent language.

Researchers use a wide range of methods and research designs, including eyetracking and pupilometry, Electroencephalogram (EEG) and psychophysiology, behavioural experiments, cross-cultural comparisons, focus groups, polysomnography in a sleep lab, acoustic analysis, and classroom-based studies.

Network members include staff and students who are mainly from the departments of Language and Linguistic Science, Psychology, and Education.
