Alternatives to whole vehicle EMC testing

Whole vehicle testing is necessary to ensure electromagnetic compatibility, as the EMC behaviour of modules tested on the bench does not match well with on-vehicle tests. The main aim of this project is to examine methods of improving the correllation between module tests and on-vehicle performance.

Using measurements and computational modelling we are investigating the reasons behind the differences in bench test and on-vehicle performance.

We aim to develop methodologies to improve the correlation between bench test and on-vehicle performance. This may involve alternative bench measurements, along with a methodology for prediction the effect of the changes in cable and structure geometry on-vehicle as compared to on the bench.
