Shakespeare, Keats & The Power of Skype

Dr Nick McGuinn and Dr Amanda Naylor participated via Skype at an academic conference organised for language teachers at the Institute of English Language and Literature, University of Sindh, by Ghazal Syed on 18 March 2019.

Institute of English Language and Literature, University of Sindh, Jamshoro, Pakistan arranged a teacher training workshop on “Teaching Literature” on 18 March 2019. The workshop was held in collaboration with academics from the Centre for Research on Education and Social Justice (CRESJ), University of York. The event was designed to facilitate government sector, higher education teachers of literature who taught at different public sector universities and their affiliated colleges throughout the country. The event was attended by a total of 35 participants.

The workshop was arranged by Dr. Ghazal Syed who facilitated a session on Teaching novels through Literature circles. Dr. Nick McGuinn and Dr. Amanda Naylor from Department of Education, University of York were invited to present sessions on Teaching Shakespeare interactively and Teaching Keats, respectively. The sessions by Dr. Naylor and Dr. McGuinn were delivered through pre-recorded videos. After the three sessions, the guest speakers joined the audience in Pakistan via Skype for questions and comments. The sessions proved to be very interactive and informative for the participants who appreciated the cross-cultural interaction that they received throughout the day.
