What makes the Department of Education at York special?

We are widely recognised in the UK and beyond as a leading department in the field of education with a national and international reputation for the excellence of our degree programmes, research and curriculum developments.

Our research

In the government’s 2014 Research Assessment Framework we had the joint ninth-highest proportion of 4* world-leading research activity. Our research focuses on language education, science education, psychology in education and education and social justice. We also have links the National Science Learning Centre, which is located on the University campus.

Our teaching
