CRESJ PhD student in Magna Carta celebrations

Commonwealth Scholar Joyce Vuban participated in an event to commemorate the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta at the House of Lords

CRESJ PhD student was among the delegates at the flagship event Human Rights in the Modern Day Commonwealth: Magna Carta to Commonwealth Charter, held at the Houses of Parliament, 4 - 6 February 2015. This conference, which involved parliamentarians from across the Commonwealth, considered the legacy of Magna Carta for modern days human rights. Topics covered included women's rights, freedom of speech and the press, the death penalty, FGM and LGBT rights. The event included a debate featuring Commonwealth and Chevening scholars in the House of Lords.

Joyce is a Commonwealth Scholar conducting her PhD research on higher education policy in Cameroon.
