Profile

Biography

I joined the department as a School Partnership Facilitator in January 2020. The role involves contributing across the PGCE programme through mentoring, teaching Whole School Initiative (WSI) sessions, aiding with the selection of trainees and supporting the further development of placements, mentors and trainee teachers.

Career

I obtained both my degree in Geography and a Postgraduate Certificate in Secondary Education from the University of Hull.

I have over 20 years of teaching experience in secondary schools across the 11-18 age range, teaching Geography, PSHE and Religious Studies in both North Yorkshire and Cambridgeshire. I have undertaken various responsibility posts in both curricula and pastoral fields, including Head of Geography and Head of Year.

Prior to working at the University I held the post of Lead Practitioner of Teaching and Learning. The role involved working one to one with new and developing members of staff, in an advisory and consultant capacity; observing and offering targeted strategies to ensure quality first teaching, alongside the design, delivery and quality assurance of whole school CPD.

While I love being in the classroom, it is a privilege to be in a position to assist in the development of successful practitioners who will go on to make outstanding contributions to individuals, their community and the world beyond.
