Biography

I am a Research Associate in the Department of Education. My research focuses on youth participation, wellbeing and inclusion. I am particularly interested in participatory and inclusive research methods, and how inequalities shape youth voice in political, educational, research and policy-making spaces. I am currently working with colleagues on a project examining the participation of learning-disabled young people in research and policy-making. My previous research has included working with colleagues on co-produced qualitative and creative research exploring young people’s experiences of emotional support, as well as studies of youth political participation conducted with interdisciplinary teams in the UK and Europe. Across these projects, I have employed qualitative, mixed-methods and participatory approaches. My career has combined academic research with substantial experience as a youth worker, both before and after completing my PhD at the University of Sheffield.
