Biography

I joined the department as Primary PGCE Associate Tutor in June 2025. In this role, I support and develop Beginning Primary Teachers as they progress through their Initial Teacher Training programme. I am particularly interested in developing the teaching of English in primary schools, with a real focus on Phonics, Early Reading and reading for pleasure.

I completed my English Language Undergraduate Degree in Leeds before training to be a teacher via a PGCE route at York St John. Before joining the department here at the University of York, I taught in primary schools around the York area for 12 years. I spent most of this time teaching and leading in EYFS and KS1, as well as leading in English across the whole Primary age range.
