I began my career in industry, working as an HR Manager for an IT company, before moving into teaching in 2010. Since then, I have taught English in comprehensive schools and taken on a range of leadership roles, including Lead Teacher for the More Able, and Aspirations and Ambitions Lead. These experiences strengthened my belief in the transformative power of English education and its potential to drive positive changes in social justice.
Over the years, I have become increasingly passionate about supporting new and early-career teachers. I have extensive experience mentoring trainees and ECTs, designing professional learning that is both evidence-informed and rooted in the realities of the classroom. I am committed to helping teachers build the confidence, knowledge and reflective habits they need to create inclusive, high-impact learning environments for all young people.
I am dedicated to fostering collaborative, supportive learning cultures and to empowering the next generation of teachers to enact meaningful, lasting change in their classrooms and communities.
I am currently completing a Doctorate in Education focusing on educational equity and the ways teacher training can reduce disparities and improve access, specifically the role of grouping systems in schools. My professional interests span teacher development, inclusive pedagogy, curriculum design and the wider role of English education in shaping opportunity.
