Project information

Images and documents

Located next to New Langwith on Heslington East, our ninth college continues to expand the accommodation and social provision for students at the University of York.

Constantine college facilities

The new college provides 620 additional study bedrooms and a social hub in a generous landscaped setting.

The diverse accommodation is designed to suit a variety of student needs.

Sustainable development

Leading with a BREEAM "excellent and low energy" design concept, the building uses high levels of insulation and an air-tight façade to prevent loss of energy.

The rooms are designed to maximise daylight levels, the buildings will make use of rainwater capture and incorporate low-water fittings.

The structural frame comes from a renewable source. As far as possible materials for construction were sourced locally, reducing the impact of transport. For more on the University's approach to sustainability, see our sustainability pages.

Constantine college

Constantine boasts a mix of bright new rooms, kitchens and contemporary-style town houses, all just a short jog from York Sport Village. Student life is focussed on The Forum, a central space for socialising and meeting up with friends.
