Advice and applications

So, you've found a course and decided to apply - here's what you need to do.

You apply to York via UCAS. You'll need to submit your grades (or predicted grades) and a personal statement telling us why you're passionate about your chosen subject. Our institution code is Y50. The institution code for Hull York Medical School (HYMS) is H75.

We recognise that everyone faces different challenges in achieving their academic potential. Alternative and contextual offers take these challenges into account and help to give everyone a fair chance of getting into university.

Before you arrive, you'll need to arrange your student finance. You should also see if there are any scholarships and bursaries you can apply to.

It’s really important that you do thorough research before you decide on which university and course is right for you. I would recommend going to visit the universities and cities. You can also visit York on a Visit Day for offer holders, which is especially useful to speak to the departmental staff. Also make sure that you complete your UCAS application in plenty of time!
