Biography

Paola joined the Department of Language and Linguistic Science in 2014 and is currently teaching Italian in the LFA programme. She completed her BA in Modern Languages in Italy and a Master in Medieval French Literature in Geneva (Switzerland). After moving to the UK in 2006, she studied Medieval French Literature at the University of Sheffield where she obtained a MA with distinction in 2007 and her PhD in 2012. Her doctoral research investigated the subversive use of topoi and irony in an Anglo-Norman chivalry text. She taught French –translation & composition– (degree programme) and Medieval French Literature at the University of Sheffield until 2017, along with French Grammar and French Studies at the University of York on both the degree programme (until 2017) and LFA French courses (until 2021). In 2018, she started teaching Italian in the LFA programme.

Paola is currently collaborating with Centro Diffusione Lingua e Cultura italiana to promote Italian language and culture in primary schools in York.
