Y-SBNT: Family and Social Network Intervention for Young People who Misuse Alcohol and Drugs

This 30 month study funded by the NIHR Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Programme will adapt and further refine the Social Behaviour and Network Therapy (SBNT) approach to support young people aged 14-18 attending existing substance misuse services in England. A manual and training programme for the delivery of the adapted intervention will be developed and implemented through a feasibility randomised controlled trial. Implementation of this new intervention will be evaluated using mixed methods research examining factors such as engagement and retention and a range of outcome measures reflecting the multiple vulnerabilities of this population. Also the potential for evaluating the clinical and cost effectiveness of the intervention through a future, definitive trial will be explored.
