The Department of Health Sciences Practice Learning Team works with our practice partners to support our students' practice education activity. We allocate students' practice experience, provide advice on practice learning concerns and support both students and practice partners in all aspects of supervision and assessment in practice.
In 2018, the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) introduced the Standards for Student Support and Assessment in Practice (SSSA), replacing the previous mentorship standards, SLAiP (NMC 2008) for nursing and midwifery. We have implemented these standards across our practice learning circuit for Nursing; Midwifery will follow in 2021.
We have worked closely with our practice partners to prepare registered nurses and allied healthcare professionals to support our Future Nurse students and are excited by the enthusiasm and success we have all shared.
If you have not yet attended Preparation for Practice Supervision or transtion from Mentor to Practice Assessor, please visit the Changes to Student Support in Practice web page to learn how these changes will affect you in practice.
We are proud to be members of The Midlands, Yorkshire, North East and East of England Practice Learning Group (MYNEEPLG) representing 32 Approved Education Institutions (AEIs) across the Midlands, Yorkshire, North East and East of England.
