Physical Layer Security of Wireless Networks

In this project, we will develop novel and efficient information theoretic security techniques for multiuser wireless networks, which will enable multiple users to exchange confidential messages over a wireless medium even in the presence of malicious users. The proposed research will exploit the variability of the wireless channel as a means of ensuring the secrecy of wireless communication, transmit processing techniques, relaying and resource allocation.

It is expected that the novel security techniques we proposed will be used to dramatically improve the existing network security measures and open up a new frontier of opportunities for future wireless network developers. The activities will involve the development of system models using linear algebra, simulation tools and analytical approaches. We employ non-linear SO-THP type precoding strategies in terms of physical-layer security and bit-error rate (BER) performance for wireless networks. We investigate different precoding techniques for multi-user MIMO systems under various conditions of channel state information between the access point and the users and the eavesdroppers.
