Grabar Travel Grant Success

Many congratulations to PhD student Nausheen Hoosein!

Nausheen has won a Grabar Travel Grant from the Historians of Islamic Art Association.  The grant is one of a number of competitive awards established in memory of Professor Oleg Grabar with the intention of fostering the professional development of scholars in all areas of the history of Islamic art, architecture and archaeology.

The grant was awarded to support Nausheen's presentation of a paper titled, "From Umayyad Madinat al-Zahra to Almohad Seville: The Plunder and Reuse of Andalusian Capitals" part of the panel, "Borderland Architecture as the Site of Cultural Exchange" at the International Mediaeval Congress in Leeds (July 4-7, 2022)

Nausheen is researching her thesis From "Umayyad Madinat al-Zahra to Almohad Seville: The Reuse of Caliphal Capitals in the Twelfth Century" under the supervision of Dr Richard McClary.
