Exceptional Circumstances affecting Assessment policy

2020/21

The Exceptional Circumstances affecting Assessment (ECA) policy applies from the start of the academic year 2020/21. This policy replaces the Mitigating Circumstances policy for all students.

Our aim is to ensure that fairness and academic standards are maintained for all our students whatever challenges they face along the way. The University offers a range of student support services and opportunities to enable students to develop successful strategies to meet the demands of academic study. The University expects that students will access relevant services, signposted by their College, their Supervisor or other members of the academic community. It is imperative that only claims about exceptional circumstances are accepted so students develop skills and strategies in their learning that can be taken on into further study and employment.
