UK participation in EU funded research programmes

Association: Following the conclusion of the UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA),  the UK will associate to five EU programmes: Horizon Europe,  EURATOM, ITER, Copernicus and the EU’s Satellite Surveillance & Tracking (SST) services.)

Process: Association is subject to finalisation of the Horizon Europe Programme regulations at the EP plenary meeting (w/c 1st Feb) , where we expect the legal text to be voted on by the European Parliament and then approved by the Council of the EU in late January / early February. The draft protocols for UK participation are ready and waiting and can come into force and UK participation will begin without the need for further negotiation.

Access: The UK will have access to the vast majority of the programme on the same basis as EU member states including the European Research Council, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, and COST actions.
