Information for Departments
For general queries about Academic Misconduct please email academic-misconduct@york.ac.uk
To report suspected academic misconduct, a member of staff from the department must first refer the case to the departmental administration team or appropriate member of staff, who will pass the Report, the assessment and any other evidence supporting the allegation to one of the StAMP members in the school/department for their initial determination of whether there is a case to answer (that is, only an individual StAMP member is required to determine if there is a case to answer). If this individual decides there is a case to answer, departmental administrators should then:
- Click on the Google template link below - this will generate a copy of the template; complete section 1 of the template.
- Change the title of the document to include the name of department and student's Examination Number or Student number;
- Update sections 2 and 3 to identify the StAMP member who decided whether there was an initial case to answer as ‘Chair’.
- Share the document with academic-misconduct-group@york.ac.uk (make them editors of the document) but uncheck the notify people box - this provides the team with access to the document;
- Email academic-misconduct@york.ac.uk including the link to the Google Document and any supporting evidence (it is important to send the email rather than just sharing the document as emails create a better paper trail, and you can see that it has been sent). Please state who the departmental chair should be/who has reviewed the case.
- For cases where there is more than one student involved (eg collusion), then two case documents will need to be submitted.
