The Department of Sociology welcomes potential fellows wishing to apply for both European and Global Fellowships*:
The Department seeks excellent applicants whose proposed research complements the work of our research clusters (see Research - Sociology, University of York) and where a suitable academic mentor has been identified in advance (see Academic staff - Sociology, University of York). We offer fellows a supportive, dynamic research environment which hosts regular talks and events. Our institutional research training and development programme is award-winning and our early career community is supportive and collaborative (see Fellowships - Research, University of York for more details).
*Applicants should usually be within 8 years of their PhD and cannot have spent more than 12 of the last 36 months in the country in which they wish to take up their fellowship. Please see the MSCA website links below for more details of the schemes and to check your eligibility:
Overview
The Department of Sociology at York has enjoyed considerable success with early career fellowship schemes over recent years, and we are keen to attract ambitious early career researchers for this competitive, prestigious fellowship opportunity.
For all selected applicants, there will be support available in developing their proposal from their chosen supervisor/mentor, and from the department’s Research Facilitator who will help to create the costing for an application and will support candidates in navigating the submission process. Applicants will benefit from peer-review of their draft application by at least two academic colleagues.
Please ensure that you read the guidelines and requirements fully before submitting an Expression of Interest. You must have identified the most suitable mentor/supervisor within the Department, and ideally you will have made contact with them in advance of applying, to seek their support, though if timings before the deadline prevent this initial discussion, we will follow-up with your proposed mentor.
