Logging in to web-based services

We have a single sign-on system for access to various web-based services including the VLE, the staff and student home pages, eVision, YorSearch and a number of library e-resources.

Getting help

If you're having problems logging in, please follow the advice below.

Forgotten username

Your IT Services username is letters followed by numbers eg abc8, defg567, abr501.

If you've forgotten your username, you will need to contact IT Support.

Forgotten password

If you know the answers to your security questions, you can change your password by going to our Identity Manager system, entering your username, and clicking 'Forgot Password?'.

If you do not know these answers you will need to contact IT Support.

Have you registered your account?

Before you can log into any University services you need to register your IT account.

Have you registered for the Duo two-factor authentication service?

Some University services (including the VPN, Virtual Desktop Service and e:Vision) require you to be registered for Duo two-factor authentication (2FA).

External users

If you have been given an external account, your username will be your external email address eg. joe.bloggs@yahoo.com or joe.bloggs@gmail.com.

To change the password for your external account, please visit External Users
