Welcome to the CWS 25-year anniversary website.

In 2009 the Centre for Women's Studies celebrated 25 years of feminist scholarship at York with a series of events and activites organised by students, alumni and staff of CWS. There was a highly successful International Conference; a fabulous cinema and TV event; research seminars, a commemerative Grove and bench and much more. Please browse the website for details

We invite all past and present staff, students, and friends of CWS to participate in our 25-year anniversary celebrations. We invite anyone interested in feminist work to browse our web site and to join with us in marking the occasion. Everyone can take part: the events have an international scope with some taking place in York, while others are online or postal activities.

Many people are helping to organise these events, a testament to the amazing diversity and talents in CWS. The programme enables us to reflect on and mark past achievements, as well as continue to work towards furthering gendered knowledge and improving women's lives.
