Willelmus etc dilecto in Cristo domino Willelmo de Sutton salutem gratiam et benedictionem. Advertentes in potentiam domini Rogeri de Sutton rectoris ecclesie de Northcolyngham nostre diocesis in copore suo patitur morbo paralitice percussi adeo quod sibi gerebus suis intendere nequiter ut accepimus quovismodo te de eius industria ac fidelitate fidelem donec obtinemus prefato domino Rogero rectori ecclesie predicte ad petitionem eiusdem ac de consensu literatorie adhabito coadiutorem in forma iuris deputamus ac etiam assignamus provisionem coadiutoris huius curam fideliter geras et de omnibus bonis dicti rectoris et ecclesie sue predicte spiritualibus et temporalibus fidele conficias inventarium plenum et de eisdem reddas rationem quod de iure requiritur cum super hoc fueris congrue requisitus ad quam omnia et singula te volumus idoneam prestare ilico cautionem. Vale. Datum apud Lanum xiii kalend’ Novembris anno gratie mo cccmo xxii. Et pontificatus nostri sexto.

Translation

William etc to his beloved in Christ lord William of Sutton health, grace and blessing. Attending to the strength of lord Roger of Sutton, rector of the church of North Collingham in our diocese, who suffers from a bodily paralytic sickness so that he is not able to attend to his duties we appoint for the aforesaid lord Roger rector of the aforesaid church at the petition of the same and with his written consent, a coadjutor in form of law, and we also assign to the duties of that coadjutor that they shall faithfully undertake cure of souls and make a full inventory of the goods of the said rector and his aforesaid church, spiritualities and temporalities, and shall render account from the same, as required by law, when it is demanded of him and we wish you to demonstrate suitable care in all and every of these things. Dated at Laneham on the 20 October in the year of grace 1322 and in the sixth year of our pontificate.
