How to find us

All York Commercial Ltd. (YCL) sections are located on the University of York campus. The main campus is to the southeast of York, within walking distance or a short bus ride from the city centre. Find out more about how to get to campus.

Further information about how to get to the University campus can be found below:

Bus

The campus is served by several First Bus routes. The main services are the 66 and 67.

The C1 and C2 are inter-campus shuttle services that are free to travel between campuses for all York students and staff.

Rail

York is well served by CrossCountry, East Coast, Northern and Transpennine services. Both 66 and 67 buses call at the station on the way to the University campus.

Bike

With the University campus only two miles from the city centre, many staff choose to cycle to work.

You'll find bike racks across campus. There are also secure cycle stores at most colleges and many larger buildings. Local reception staff will be able to help you access these once you have started.

Car

Car parks can be found on the interactive campus map. Once you have started you will be able to apply for a parking permit

Parking operates on a first-come, first-served basis and your permit doesn't guarantee you a space. Occasional car users can use the pay-and-display car parks or buy bulks of single use permits.

Taxis

A journey by taxi from York railway station to the University takes around 15 minutes and costs about £12.

Drop off points for common campus destinations:

  • Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall (just off University Road) has a labelled disabled entrance and you can be dropped off just next to it.
  • Information Centre (next to Market Square, Campus Central parking)
  • Central Hall (in the centre, near the lake. You can be dropped off at the end of Harewood Way)
  • Exhibition Centre (southern edge of the lake, Campus South or West parking)
  • JB Morrell Library and the Borthwick Institute (Campus Central or North parking)
  • National Science Learning Centre (NSLC) (Campus North parking)

Travel and parking for disabled staff

Most buses to campus are wheelchair accessible. Car parking is free for disabled badge holders, and all car parks have bays reserved for disabled drivers. Find out more about travel and parking for disabled staff
