York is a world leader in Environmental and Ecological Research

York is ranked second in Britain, and 17th in the world, for the impact of its Environmental and Ecological Research, according to a new analysis just published by Times Higher Education (22 July 2010).

This analysis is based on Thomson Reuters data, in which they assessed the number of times that each scientific article published by a researcher at the University of York was cited by other researchers, for articles published from Jan 2000 to Feb 2010. Based on citations per scientific article - a metric for the scientific impact of the work - York is within the top fraction of a percent of institutions in the world for Environmental and Ecological research.
